Happy Valentine’s Day!

2015-02-13 10.33.522015-02-13 10.34.07The other day I was asked by a sweet friend to create a Birthday-Valentine’s card and of course I had to give it a try.  I looked on Pinterest to get some ideas and found one but unfortunately I can’t find the person that made it.  The web sites that were mentioned were blocked because of a possible spam.  Anyway whoever made this card Thank you!

Getting back to my card, I decided to make it a regular A 2 size side fold card with a white base.  For the mat cut at 5 1/4 x 4, I used some light grey cardstock that I have had for a very long time so I am not even sure who makes it.  I used my linen background stamp from Stampin Up and Crumb Cake ink.

I loved the effect it gave and I had forgotten how much I loved this old stamp, gotta use it more often.  I rounded the top left and bottom right corners on both the mat and the card base.

I also used Stampin Up’s Heart to Heart punch for the hearts and for the string I used several Kreinik Metallics blending filament 093. I attached the hearts with mini glue dots and added dimensionals to lift it off the base a little.

To finish it off I used 3 pearls from the Stampin Up’s Basic pearls pack and colored them with Stampin Blendabilities medium Cherry Cobbler.  I finished it off with a couple of sprays of Tsukineko all purpose ink #74 Champagne mist to give it just the right amount of shine. I thought it turned out very pretty myself.

Thank you for taking a look and please come back soon.  I hope to start making more creations to put on my blog in the future.

NOTE: I am not a demonstrator for Stampin Up but I enjoy their products and I will link as many of the products that I used to my demonstrator Sally Hadley’s Stampin Up store.

The Open Sea

I decided that I wanted to make more of a masculine card this week mainly because I do not have very many of them.  I love the Open Sea stamp set from Stampin Up.

I looked at my stash of paper and came across some blue paper that would go well with the creamy background.

I wanted to have the ship really look like it was out on the sea.  I made some very small cloud templates to make the clouds stand out.

I also added some texture to the front of the card this Carrick Bend Knot that I learned how to make.   The link to the blog for this and many more knots is here.  I wanted to thank you for coming by and for encouraging me to step out of my comfort zone.

The supplies I used:

The Open Sea stamp set from Stampin Up

Stampin Up Dimensionals

Beige card stock for the base  and the blue check designer paper(I have had it forever)

Hemp cording from Natural Polished Hemp that I purchased at Walmart

Designer paper from Colorbok Natural Expressions

Adirondack Dimensional Pearls Denim

My Baby Girl is Home

My daughter Jen just got back from working in Korea and I guess I have been a little paranoid, but she was in the air at the same time and day as the missing Maylasia plane.  I can’t even know what the families are feeling with their loved ones who are on that plane but knowing my daughter was on a plane going over sea’s sure made me feel a little nervous even though I knew she was Ok.  My prayers go out to those families. It has been harder for me to play now that my hubby let me use his computer because we are using my desk too.  I made this  simple card a couple of weeks ago but did not put it on my Blog so I am doing it now. As I am posting this card I am doing so from my tablet so I don’t have the info regarding what supplies I used. Anyway I hope everyone has a great Sunday. 20140303_141333

A long summer

image

It has been a long 6 months with so many changes.  My hubby Scott retired from work, my father in law passed awayand had to sort, purge and settle his estate…I just helped my  sister and brother in law did the most. We had our granddaughter that we had not seen for 6 years move in with us along with her mother which has been so uplifting.

We bought a tent trailer and went camping at least 8 times but during this time I had gout or vertigo throughout the summer.  During the summer my son Brad has painted, tiled, cleaned and fixed 2 bathrooms, entrance and now the kitchen.  By the time the kitchen done pretty much or whole upstairs will be new again.  My husband and Brad moved the fridge to where the pantry was and now the pantry is on the wall where the fridge was.  Anyway for the last 6 months the stress caught up to me and brought on my vertigo that has not been this bad since it first came on in 2005.

I have been down for 6 weeks now and I think it is going to be a long time for it to settle down.  Now onto my card… It has taken me a while to put it together but it was nice to be able to create again.  This card was made with my first try of coloring with my copics using a drawing of a girl not just flowers. I also made an envelope and decorated the inside as well.  I am loving my envelope punch board and being able to have it all match.  I am not sure when I can get back to normal but at least it is a start.

Helping a Friend #2

Several weeks ago I decided to help a great friend with some all occasion cards so she can give them away for Christmas.  I did this one for the Birthday card but I added some bling inside the swirls which made it look so much better.  I have more to add soon.  I hope you have a wonderful New Year.

Balloons Need I Say More?

I wanted to make a Birthday card that was as bubbly as my daughter in law is.  We normally give everyone in my family a card and some money because I do not drive anymore.  This year I had to wait until payday to give Kristle her card even though I had made the card earlier.  I told her she had to wait to get it until I had the money to give them both to her.  After a week had past and I had been paid she came over and said…I came for my card and I want it now.  She even said the money could wait but she wanted to see what card I had made for her.  Needless to say this card was a very simple one but it fits Kristle’s personality.  I am very glad she is a part of our family.

Thanks for coming, Dahlene

A New Year and Another Mojo Monday #172

I have been looking forward to creating new cards and as I was thinking of what and how I wanted to do it I found that I could not do the placements just right.  I decided that I needed some help with this and looked at the Mojo Monday # 172 sketch challenge and decided to give it a try.  I was able to use my newest Spellbinders scallop circle die and was trying to figure out how to add the background to make it stand out.  I then cut both the white and blue card stock and glued them together and I liked the effect it made.  I used Stampin Up’s Fun and Fast Notes for the birthday greeting and cake.  I like to use what I have on hand as much a possible (because I can justify the cost to make cards) and thought I would make my son a Birthday card for him as he turned 30 today but just one problem… I realized the light blue paper was a little bit too feminine for him so I gave him one that I had already made.  Happy Birthday Brad!  Love you

Kaitlyn’s Birthday

What a fun way to end the year by having a Grand daughter born on the 31st of December.  I played around with an old Stampin Up set called Perfect Party and also used my Cricut  Calligraphy Collection for the Happy Birthday.  I added some Stickles to give it the added sparkle and gave it to her.  She got a shopping cart and decided to use the card like she was going to buy it.  I loved it and I know she loved it as well.  I hope to get back into the routine of creating many more cards and 3 d projects.  I hope you find what you are looking for and I am grateful that I can find what I am looking for on the many wonderful blogs out there.  Have a great day!

A New Type Of Challenge

use it

As I was checking in on some of my favorite blogs I came upon the Use It! Challenge no.22.  This week’s challenge comes from June Houck and you can visit her blog here
June’s challenge was to:

1. Try a new technique
it can be an old technique,
but one you have not tried.

2. Use a virgin stamp

3. Use papers you have never used before

1.On my card I needed to have a big center piece on my flower so I took one of my 3D Dot’s and put some embossing powder on the top of it and then embossed it with a heat gun.  I was able to then just peel it off the strip and stick it on my flower, Love IT!

2. Next I used the Seeing Spot Stamp set from Stampin’ Up that I got last year and had not had a chance to use it and I thought it matched pretty good.

3. The paper was from Scenic Route called Metropolis Simmons Street that I had just bought.  I love the colors don’t you?

I thought that since it was a Birthday Card that it was ok to use curling ribbon for the top part of the card.

I also Cased the transparency idea from Dawn’s tutorial here.  Thanks Dawn I love the look and it was not too hard for me to set it up to print the sentiment from my computer.

I had so much fun doing this card, Tooo bad it took me all week to get it done LOL

Mojo Monday Week 80

mojo80sketch

cards-004I decided that during the times that I do not have any children I would take out enough time to do a Mojo Monday challenge to see if it will help me to make my cards fun and different than if I did my own thing.  Here is my card for this week and I absolutely love the way it came out.  I first was going to make it a baby card then I decided to use a stamp set I have not used before and that is how I ended up with this card.  Thanks for taking a peek and I hope you have a great week.
